LEDAX announces power management division and predicts that 25% of its revenues will come from the photovoltaic sector.

One of the new players in the photovoltaic market is Ledax. As we reported, the company recently opened a solar division, ranging from the importation of photovoltaic plates to the installation and delivery of distributed generation systems. “For this year, we plan for the company's solar revenues to be between 20% and 25%. This micro and mini generation market has been growing year after year ”, detailed the company's CEO, Rodrigo Travi. The executive states that 2019 will be the year of consolidation of Ledax division in the solar industry. "We are getting good penetration in this segment," he added. In addition, Travi also revealed that the company will inaugurate in the second half a new business division, focused on offering an energy data management and analysis system. “We were managing consumption and controlling lighting. We still offer this, but we will also make energy management available ”, he concluded.

I would like you to start by talking about the energy efficiency market in Brazil

Most of our customers are corporate and consume more energy. The energy in Brazil is still very expensive and still growing. So the concern with energy consumption is very big. What we still see is that a little knowledge is lacking for most customers and consumers. And we, as a company, have a role in raising awareness about good practices.

I would like you to update us also about the company's performance in the photovoltaic market.

In our first conversation [in March], we were quite fledgling still in the division. Today it is much more structured, with more business on the street and many ongoing projects. For this year, we plan for the company's solar revenues to be between 20% and 25%. This micro and mini generation market has been growing year after year and had a boom between 2017 and 2018. This year we are able to enter this market and bring these solutions to our customers.

What are the goals of the solar power division?

2019 will be the year of consolidation of our solar energy division. We are getting a good penetration in this segment. Solar energy is very attractive. A lot of people are looking for the source because they see that rates of return have changed a lot.

Our customers have the demand to save more. With LED lighting solutions you can save a lot, but they only cover a small part of the power bill. Already with solar energy, we can act on a good percentage of the electricity bill.

And how is the search for new business and customers?

We are focusing a lot on supermarket chains. It is a market where we are managing to evolve more. The important thing is also to emphasize that we have a window, by the end of this year, with all the benefits and tax concessions that already existed by the federal and state governments. And utilities are not charging the use of distribution and transmission systems. By the end of 2019, this will be guaranteed for those who are already hired. We are running hard for our clients to take advantage of this window of opportunity, showing how much it impacts their return on investment time.

Ledax recently opened a factory in Bahia. Could you talk about the unit's work?

The unit is already 100% productive. Our focus today in terms of customers remains the same, but with a slight change. We are looking for larger contracts. Before, we had an engineering unit that customized many products. Today, we are avoiding product customizations. We are focusing on product application customization. That is, we make projects focused on the products we already have, optimizing the solution. We develop a solution for each customer.

And what will be the company's next steps?

When we added our photovoltaic business division, the strategy was to move away from that lighting company concept as a power solutions provider. We started to develop other fronts besides lighting.

Today we are developing Codax, which is in the testing phase. It is a telemanagement system that was geared towards lighting and will now be geared towards energy, with energy management data capture and analysis, just to keep up with our mind set.

Just to be clear, we did consumption management and lighting control. We still offer this, but we will also make energy management available. Let's start this in the second half. That is, we will consolidate our photovoltaic energy division and launch this energy management and monitoring division.
